Teaching for Transformation (TfT)

TfT is designed to combine excellent educational practices with an intentional Christian mindset. TfT learning begins with a Deep Hope. Each teacher has prayed and thought through their Deep Hope for themselves and their students and answered the question: What is the purpose and calling of my classroom to help students see and live God’s story?

Throughlines are “Habits of Living” that we desire our students to embody. These ideas run through every part of our curriculum and help our students to reflect Jesus. They include: God-worshipping, Idolatry Discerning, Creation Enjoying, Beauty Creating, Order Discovering, Justice Seeking, Servant Working, Earth Keeping, Community Building, and Image Reflecting. Preparation for the Next Step

Students at ICS are known as individuals and they are supported and encouraged as they develop skills and qualities that will allow them premier opportunities in the future. Our guidance counselor monitors and communicates with students and families regarding opportunities in and out of school, scholarship information, and the college application process.

We also recognize that college is not always the best next-step for students. In our senior-year seminar class, students engage with a variety of job and career options.

Learning in Community

At ICS we recognize that God didn’t create us to live alone. In Genesis, the first time God said something was, “not good,” was when he spoke of Adam being alone. We believe learning, and life, are best done in community.

The students, teachers, parents, staff, and administration of ICS partner in life-long learning to create and live in a relational environment conducive to optimal educational experiences for the whole child.
