Junior Achievement is a supplemental curriculum we enjoy using at ICS to equip elementary students with financial literacy and work-readiness skills. J.A. City is the exciting culmination of the program and, without a doubt, the highlight field trip of fifth grade! This year’s fifth-grade class prepared for several weeks and then traveled to J.A. City in Discovery Gateway on February 12th to participate with other fifth grade classes in a simulation of running a city for the day! ICS students fulfilled all the roles to operate a Chick-Fil-A, First Security Bank, Merit Medical, and KSL News station, and declared the experience “the best school day ever!” As their teacher, it’s my pleasure to watch them walk away from the day inspired to continue working hard in school after catching a glimpse of what it will be like to thrive in their future employment endeavors!
